Safety Lancet Packaging: Units, Cartons and Shipping Data
Safety lancet packaging specifications should identify the exact item, lancets per box, boxes per shipping carton, carton dimensions and packed weight. Record the unit of measure beside every quantity. Match the packing sheet, quotation and artwork version before using those figures for a purchase order or freight estimate.
A price per box is difficult to compare when the box quantity is unclear. A carton weight is equally unhelpful without the carton quantity and dimensions. This guide gives distributors and OEM purchasing teams a packing-data checklist to use alongside the Linkfar Medical safety lancet manufacturer and OEM range.
Separate the lancet, box and shipping carton
Use a separate row for each packaging level. In its packaging level definitions, GS1 US distinguishes an each, inner pack, case and pallet. Confirm how the supplier's terms map to your ordering units; a saleable unit does not necessarily mean one individual lancet.
| Level | What to record | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Individual lancet | Item reference, model and selected specification | Which exact item is being counted? |
| Box or inner pack | Lancets per pack; pack reference and artwork version | Is the quote per lancet, per box or another unit? |
| Shipping carton | Boxes per carton and total lancets per carton | Do the two quantities reconcile? |
| Pallet, if used | Cartons per pallet, loaded dimensions and loaded weight | Does the freight estimate use loose cartons or a loaded pallet? |
For a carton containing one item in identical boxes, check: lancets per carton = lancets per box × boxes per carton. For mixed items or a partial carton, list the contents separately rather than applying that multiplication to the whole shipment.
Request dimensions and weight for the packed configuration
Ask for the external length, width and height of the shipping carton, with the measurement unit stated. Keep the carton dimensions separate from the retail-box dimensions. Record whether the figures describe the proposed pack, an approved packing specification or a measured shipment.
| Packing-data field | What the record should make clear |
|---|---|
| Carton dimensions | External L × W × H; mm or cm; the applicable pack reference |
| Net weight | What is included and excluded; the unit and packaging level |
| Gross weight | Weight of the packed carton, with the unit stated |
| Total shipment | Full cartons, any partial cartons and the quantity of each item |
| Pallet data | Whether pallet and wrapping are included in the stated dimensions and weight |
Carton quantity and dimensions belong to a specific packing configuration. When the box count, pack design or pallet arrangement changes, ask whether the packing data also needs revision. Avoid copying a carton figure from another model into a new RFQ.
Give the freight provider both weight and dimensions
A freight estimate based only on physical weight can miss the space occupied by the shipment. DHL Express explains in its weight and dimensions guide that chargeable weight can depend on volumetric weight as well as actual weight.
Give the freight provider the packed dimensions, gross weight, number of pieces, origin and destination. Ask it to confirm the calculation and service conditions for that shipment. A packing sheet supplies inputs for the estimate; it does not establish a freight rate or delivery date.
Keep pack quantity and labeling review together
For private-label projects, keep the proposed box quantity beside the corresponding artwork, language and instructions-for-use version. The FDA's device labeling overview explains that labeling can include accompanying material as well as labels on the container. A review limited to the front of the box can therefore miss relevant material.
Ask the responsible quality and regulatory reviewers to check the selected item's labeling, storage information and expiry presentation for the intended market. Confirm the actual packaging configuration and supporting documents before agreeing to a pack change. A printed box quantity by itself does not establish shelf life, sterile-barrier design or market authorization.
For the wider artwork and document handover, use the OEM safety lancet and private-label sourcing guide. For a component going into a named diagnostic kit, also record the inputs in the diagnostic kit sourcing guide.
What to include in a packaging enquiry
Linkfar Medical's manufacturer/OEM procurement page provides the starting point for an item-specific enquiry. Send the selected item or model and your proposed pack requirements to info@linkfarmedical.com, with:
- Destination market and the selected item/specification.
- Required quantity, stated in individual lancets, and the preferred ordering unit.
- Proposed lancets per box and boxes per carton, or a request for the current packing sheet.
- Brand, labeling language and artwork version, where applicable.
- Loose-carton or pallet requirement and the freight destination.
- A request to confirm packed dimensions, net/gross weight definitions and any remaining open fields.
Keep the confirmed packing sheet with the quotation and sample reference. Use that same record when checking the purchase order and shipment documents so that the item, quantity and pack version remain identifiable.
